VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR SPECIFIC LOTS

Important Recall Clarification: The recall applies only to the specific older LOT codes listed below.
All current inventory and other NuttyHero products, including products with other lot codes and best-before dates, are not affected by this recall and are safe to consume.

As part of the ongoing CFIA food safety investigation re: Iranian Pistachios, we have voluntarily recalled specific LOTs of NuttyHero products as identified below:

All products produced since September 2025, exclusively use California Pistachios which are not impacted by food safety recalls.

  • To date, none of our products (including recalled LOTs) have tested positive for salmonella, nor have we received any customer complaints of illness caused by our products indicating salmonella contamination.

Although we have preventative controls and a robust food safety HACCP/PCP plan (including testing program) to ensure products are safe for consumption, we are voluntarily recalling the above impacted products out of an abundanceΒ of caution.

ROOT CAUSE OF THE RECALL

Our pistachio suppliers, issued recalls for specific lots of Iranian pistachios due to potential food safety concerns identified after distribution.

  • At the time of purchase, NuttyHero had received supplier laboratory analysis confirming the pistachios met food safety requirements including negative salmonella results. However, once the supplier recall was issued, we immediately initiated recalls of affected finished products in accordance with CFIA recommendations.
  • The above recalls are not related to NuttyHero manufacturing processes, sanitation programs, or food safety controls. It is a precautionary recall linked to a supplier-initiated raw material recall.

WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT IT?

After consultation with CFIA and other food-safety agencies, we are currently in the process of conducting a detailed scientific study to validate our processing steps as pathogen kill steps. This type of study is what CFIA recommends to demonstrate evidence of controlling/adequate reduction of pathogens as part of our product manufacturing processes.

  • Although this type of scientific study is a voluntary additional food safety step, it will enable us to provide documented evidence that our processes add an additional layer of food-safety, should ingredients we receive be potentially contaminated.
  • We continue to only work with verified ingredient suppliers with SQF or equivalent food safety certifications (the highest industry standard for food safety).
  • We continue to require ingredient suppliers provide verification and lab-results for each LOT of ingredients confirming ingredients they supply us are free from contamination.
  • We continue to exclusively use California Pistachios for our products.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

If you are still in possession of any of the products with the impacted LOTs, as identified above, do not consume the recalled product and notify us at your earliest convenience.

  • Replacements: Upon receiving photo confirmation that customers are in possession of recalled product, we will provide replacement products for all recalled products that are still in customer possession.

We are committed to providing safe and quality products to our customers. We continue to work closely with our suppliers and the CFIA to assist with their investigation, assess root causes and create mitigation strategies to prevent this issue in the future.

Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

As long as your order hasn't been packed and shipped yet, we can usually modify or cancel it. Send us an email at hello@nuttyhero.com to modify or cancel your order.

My credit card was charged by I did not receive an order confirmation, help?

This issue occasionally happens when a payment on our online store fails due to an incorrect billing address entered or wrong CVV. Depending on your bank, a charge may show up as 'pending charges' or 'authorized transactions' but will not proceed to get charged. A quick call to your bank should be able to confirm if the charge actually went through or not. If you believe you were incorrectly charged, email us at hello@nuttyhero.com and we'll work double-time to resolve the issue.

Subscriptions

How do subscriptions work?

When you order products are a subscription, they are automatically charged delivered on your selected schedule. Subscriptions are processed for a minimum 3 billing cycles after which you can cancel your subscription at any time.

Can I modify or cancel my subscription?

All subscriptions are billed for a minimum of 3 cycles. This minimum billing enables us to offer free shipping in addition to the subscription discounts. You can manage your subscription via automatic subsciption emails or by logging into your account (top right corner of the website).

Do you ship internationally?

My jars arrived broken or damaged, what should I do?

If you received broken or damaged products, email us at hello@nuttyhero.com with your order number and a picture of the damaged product and we'll do our best to make things right ASAP.

Can I pickup my order?

We currently do not offer order pickups, however, free shipping for online orders $55+. You can also buy our products at various local markets and stores.

Can I return my order?

Food items are notΒ eligible for a return/refund. For all other items, we have a 15-day return and refund policy, which means you have 15 days after receiving your item to request a return. View our Refund Policy for more information on initiating a return for non-food products.

What is the shelf life for NuttyHero Nut & Seed Butters?

The shelf life for all NuttyHero Nut & Seed Butters is 1 year from the manufacture date. After opening, our products usually last approximately 2 months in a pantry or up to 6 months in a fridge.

NOTE: Oil separation is normal as our products do not contain any added stabilizers or emulsifiers.

What does 'Elite' Nut & Seed mean?

We analyzed the nutrition profiles of various nuts & seeds and only selected ones that significantly contributed to the overall nutrition and taste i.e. The Elite!

What's up with that layer of oil on top?

Since we do not use any added stabilizers like palm oil, hydrogenated oil or lecithin, oil separation is a natural process that occurs in our nut & seed butters. If you notice a layer of oil on top, simply stir the oil back into the NuttyHero jar with a butter knife and enjoy! Where are your products made?

All NuttyHero Nut & Seed Butters are proudly handmade in small batches at our Commercial Production facility located at 18-1158 King Road, Burlington (Ontario).

Do I need to refrigerate NuttyHero?

Unopened NuttyHero Nut & Seed Butters do not need to be refrigerated but should be stored in a cool dark place. We recommend refrigeration after opening for optimal quality and to extend shelf life.

How should I eat NuttyHero?

Any way you like! We like it straight off the spoon, however, NuttyHeroΒ is a great alternative to regular peanut, nut and seed butters and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Visit our Recipes section for yummy ideas!

Ingredients & Nutrition

Is NuttyHero gluten / peanut / soy / lactose free?

Gluten, Soy, Lactose: Our Burlington (Ontario) production facility is a dedicated gluten-free, soy-free and lactose-free facility. Additionally, we source ingredients from verified suppliers to ensure all ingredients entering the facility are free from gluten, soy and lactose.

Peanuts: Our products are peanut-free and we do not process or store peanuts at our facility. However, our product labels state "May contain: Peanuts' until we verify peanut-free status for our entire supply chain and obtain 3rd-party peanut-free certification.

Is NuttyHero vegan / keto / paleo friendly?

Vegan: All our flavours except 'Honey Vanilla' are vegan.

Keto: With only 1-2 grams of total sugars (3-5 grams of carbs) per serving, NuttyHero is the perfect low-sugar, keto friendly treat!

Paleo: With 100% natural and unrefined ingredients, NuttyHero Butters are a great option if you follow a paleo diet.

What is your recommended serving size?

Although nuts & seeds are naturally high in healthy fats, fibre, vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, they are a relatively high-calorie food. Generally, nut and seed butters should be eaten in moderation as part of a healthy balanced diet. We cannot provide any specific recommendations on serving sizes as there are many factors that could affect individual calorie intake and nutritional needs. Consulting a registered dietician is the best way to determine your optimal recommended serving size for nut and seed butters.

All that said, 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 grams) of NuttyHero should provide you with a burst of nutrition and energy!
